This course provides Healthcare Professionals with the knowledge and skills to recognize and provide care in respiratory and cardiac emergencies. Learn how to perform rescue breathing, one-rescuer and two-rescuer CPR. How to use airway adjuncts, and how to operate an automated external defibrillator (AED). As a professional rescuer, you need to be prepared for an emergency in advance. This course satisfies re-certification under current American Heart Association guidelines for all Healthcare Providers. "Universal Sanitary Precautions" are steps we should take to protect ourselves when we come into contact with the blood or body fluids or other people. Universal Precautions are intended to stop the spread of germs to others. Topics covered are: Ways in which germs spread, bloodborne pathogens, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, hand washing, personal protective equipment, laundry procedures, sharps, and incident exposure.
